"Believe in yourself and don't let the negativity or the criticism of the industry affect you."
Model Citizen App is the platform where we recognise fashion models, photographers, designers, makeup artists, hair stylists, creative directors, bloggers, stylists, and labels around the world. Every day, we feature an individual on Model Citizen Interviews. People get to know each of them - their hopes, challenges, aspirations and inspirations in life.
Tell us about yourself: Why do you want to work as a model? Why are you interested in modelling as a career?
Hello, my name is Aislinn Greene. I am 19 years old, from North Carolina. I have been modeling since the age of 16. Modeling is an outlet for me to expression my emotion. I take the business very seriously. I am currently with a mother agent, but am looking to take my career to the next level. I know that requires the right exposure and that's what I strive to find everyday. I hone my craft through photoshoots, agency meetings, and workshops. I also act and will be attending the New York Conservatory for Dramatic Arts in August. The arts are a true passion of mine. I want to be an inspiration to young girls. I believe that anything is possible with hard work and dedication and I want to be the voice for that. I think I will add a sense of class and poise to the modeling industry.
How important is modelling education: Have you attended modelling courses? What related courses or studies have you taken?
I have taken runway classes. I have also worked with top photographers that coached me when I was first beginning. I spend my free time looking at top supermodels and their recent photos to gain inspiration from their poses. I never want to copy their looks, but they give me the inspiration that I need.
What do you think makes someone “fit” to be a model?
CONFIDENCE! Believe in yourself and don't let the negativity or the criticism of the industry affect you. Have an imagination that can show through your photos. Be able to express yourself emotionally. BE OPEN
What are your goals as a model? How do you see yourself progressing in this field?
I wanted to get published and that has happened twice already. They are just local magazines, but getting published was a goal of mine. Now my next goal is to shoot for VOGUE or ELLE. I also have been on two billboards locally, which I wasn't sure would happen. I can definitely see improvement in my photos (poses, emotional, facial expressions) from when I first began modeling. I set my goals high because high because I know I can reach them. I want to start getting national exposure. Looking to do big print ads and commercials.
How do you communicate with people? Are you patient? Are you friendly? How open are you to clients’ requirements?
I am an outgoing person. I love meeting new people and learning about them. I am patient. When my friends don't know what to do or how to handle a situation they always come to me.
Do you eat nutritiously? How often do you exercise or go to the gym?
I love to be healthy. It's a hobby of mine. I am always researching the best foods for your body. I train with my trainer twice a week. I attend spin classes every morning. I also attend pilates twice a week. I am very active. I love fitness.
What is your dream role as a model?
Land the cover of a major magazine (VOGUE/ELLE), be the face of a major brand (PRADA, GUCCI, Dolce & Gabbana, Tom Ford).
Do you have any limitations? How do you define your boundaries when choosing to accept a modelling request?
I am open to new ideas. When I was beginning modeling I held back, but modeling is art and if the look is portrayed tastefully then it can be beautiful.
State your availability: Would you travel? Work full-time, part time? Any hours?
I am willing to travel if expenses are paid for. I will be living in NYC and going to school there, but I have most weekends off. Part time, but if my career takes off then would love to do it full time.
What was your favourite experience so far?
Shooting at a rooftop hotel in some of the most gorgeous apparel. I felt so inspired! At that moment I knew that I was never going to give this up.
