"It must be your choice to become a model, not a stereotype of a beautiful life of those models who have already made their career successful."
Model Citizen App is the platform where we recognise fashion models, photographers, designers, makeup artists, hair stylists, creative directors, bloggers, stylists, and labels around the world. Every day, we feature an individual on Model Citizen Interviews. People get to know each of them - their hopes, challenges, aspirations and inspirations in life.
Tell us about yourself: Why do you want to work as a model? Why are you interested in modelling as a career?
From a very childhood I have always felt myself confident in front of the camera. I have realized that I can express more than just an appearance. However, I had to have the same way as any other person: I should get an education and find a good job. So after the school I entered university and studied two foreign languages, Chinese and English. During the study, I was offered to take a part in photoshoot. It was a commercial project. I decided to try it. The atmosphere was amazing for me: hairstylists, make-up artists, photographers, stylists working and creating something unbelievably beautiful. So, you are in the center of this creative flow! After several photoshoots, I saw a potential to do modeling as a career, because this was what I wanted to do in my life. However, I quit this idea for a year as I worked in the office after graduation of my university. At the end, it was a serious step in my life when I took a decision to quit my work and start a career as a model. One of the favorite aspects of this sphere is that there is no routine! Every time you learn and disclose something new!
How important is modelling education: Have you attended modelling courses? What related courses or studies have you taken?
I have attended modelling courses in the local modeling school. The courses included photography, defile, yoga and oratory. The courses were really useful so as in my opinion, whatever you do, you should be competent.
What do you think makes someone “fit” to be a model?
Firstly, you should love it. It must be your choice to become a model, not a stereotype of a beautiful life of those models who have already made their career successful. Here, we can see only a result of their hard work, Secondly, you should have a strong stress resistance as this sphere is rather unstable: one day you may be a favorite, another day you are an outsider. However, never give up and go ahead whatever happens! Thirdly, be yourself, be who you are. Show your individuality. At the end, believe in your dream! A strong belief makes a dream to come true.
What are your goals as a model? How do you see yourself progressing in this field?
One of my major goals is to become a successful international model. I hope to attend the leading model agencies, travel around the world and make my own contribution into a model business. I am an Asian, who has European features, so I want this interesting mix work as a new trend or tendency.
How do you communicate with people? Are you patient? Are you friendly? How open are you to clients’ requirements?
I am an open-minded and communicative person. I always try to find the individual approach as people are different. It is important to accept people the way they are. We cannot change them, so we need to learn just to accept.
Do you eat nutritiously? How often do you exercise or go to the gym?
I do. I like eating different kinds of salads, sandwiches, soups, also milk products, nuts, fish, fruit and porriges. And I cannot live without sweets, but I don't eat sweets too much. I drink a lot of water during the day. In my point of view, a model should be a representer of a healthy appearance and evoke to lead a healthy lifestyle. His/her body and face are key instruments. As I have started my model career recently, I hadn't had a regular training. But now, I have started walking on foot a lot.
What is your dream role as a model?
My dream role is to be an Angel of a Victoria's Secret and to take a part in its show. Also, to be a face of famous brands, to take a part in their advertising campaigns.
Do you have any limitations? How do you define your boundaries when choosing to accept a modelling request?
I accept those requests which fit to my values.
State your availability: Would you travel? Work full-time, part time? Any hours?
As I said before I wanted to travel around the world as a model. This is my dream. I dropped my work and now I dedicate my time to build up my model career. I am ready for that.
What was your favourite experience so far?
My first photoshoot which I organized by myself. Lots of emotions, from an embarrassment to disclosure.
